Electronics Hardware Developer

About the role

INOVA's Engineering team is looking for an Electronics Hardware Developer to design seismic acquisition products. The role sits within the Product Development department and reports to the Engineering Manager, Hardware. It involves analysing existing electronic circuitry, recommending design improvements, testing hardware components and writing test reports.

Key responsibilities

• Develop new design concepts in a team environment and take part in design reviews
• Create drawings, diagrams and specifications for electronic assemblies, including schematics and specs for the contract manufacturer
• Take part in system architecture design, power and cost budgeting
• Test designs with simulation tools or physical demonstrators, and debug prototypes on the lab bench
• Carry out root cause failure analysis and develop test plans for product qualification and design assurance
• Manage third-party engineering teams and take part in specialist and multidisciplinary team meetings
• Write and implement engineering processes and documentation such as Engineering Change Notices, deviations waivers, NPRs and field service bulletins

Required profile

• Post-secondary degree in Electrical Engineering
• 5+ years of experience designing analog instrumentation, data acquisition systems, power supplies and high-speed digital circuitry
• Willingness to travel internationally and ability to lift up to 50 lbs unassisted
• Excellent English, verbal and written

Required skills

• Schematic and PCB design with Altium, and specifications for PCB fabrication
• Test equipment and instrumentation for electronics validation
• Embedded design with microprocessors and FPGAs; firmware development preferred
• Product commercialisation knowledge; MEMs and data/statistical analysis experience are assets
