Mechanical Design Engineer - Power Generation

About the role

A leading global engineering and power solutions organization is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer in Dubai to support the design, development and optimization of equipment used in power generation, critical infrastructure and industrial environments. This is a 1-2 year contract with potential long-term opportunities, working closely with customers, suppliers and multidisciplinary engineering teams on packaged power systems, equipment enclosures, cooling solutions and related mechanical systems.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and review mechanical design concepts for industrial and power generation equipment.
• Evaluate enclosure designs, ventilation systems, cooling performance, noise control and vibration mitigation.
• Review engineering drawings, technical documentation and design specifications.
• Collaborate with customers, suppliers and internal engineering teams to deliver practical and commercially viable solutions.
• Support technical discussions throughout the project lifecycle, from concept through delivery.
• Perform engineering assessments and recommend product improvements and design optimisation.
• Take part in design reviews, technical problem-solving and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Ensure designs comply with engineering standards, performance requirements and customer expectations.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a similar discipline.
• About 7-10 years of mechanical engineering experience.
• Ability to read, interpret and review engineering drawings and technical documentation.
• Understanding of mechanical system design, ventilation, cooling, acoustics and vibration principles.
• Strong technical communication skills with customers, suppliers and internal stakeholders.
• Experience in power generation, gensets or packaged power solutions; equipment enclosures, cooling and ventilation; HVAC, noise, vibration or thermal management; or industrial, oil & gas or rotating/static equipment environments is preferred.

Required skills

• Reading and reviewing engineering drawings and technical documentation.
• Use of engineering tools such as Creo, ANSYS or equivalent is advantageous.
