SEN Classroom Assistant - Immediate Start

About the role

ADNOC Schools, operated by Aldar Education, is seeking a high-performing SEN Classroom Assistant for an immediate start at its school in Sas Al Nakhl, Abu Dhabi. The school follows the Massachusetts State Curriculum, which leads to the American High School Diploma, and offers a 21st-century curriculum with modern facilities. The assistant works under the direction of the Principal, Vice Principal or Class Teacher.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in the educational and social development of students under the direction of the Principal, Vice Principal or Class Teacher.
• Support individual students inside and outside the classroom so they can fully take part in activities.
• Maintain up-to-date student records and help prepare resources such as photocopies.
• Support students with additional needs, such as feeding themselves and using the bathroom (KG).
• Lead small groups in activities planned by the teacher and prepare displays of student work.
• Work with other professionals where necessary and undertake other administrative duties as directed.
• Set a good example in dress, punctuality, attendance and conduct, and be proactive on health and safety matters.
• Maintain confidentiality and accept reasonable professional duties assigned by the Principal or Vice Principal.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Education or a related subject, with at least 2 years of experience in the field.
• Recent and consistent involvement in extra-curricular activities.
• Experience with students for whom English is an additional language.
• Clean enhanced Disclosure and Barring Services or Police check.
• Commitment to an extensive enrichment programme and respect for the school community.
