School Counselor

About the role

ADNOC Schools is seeking a School Counselor for its school in Sas Al Nakhl, Abu Dhabi, with an immediate start. The school follows the Massachusetts State Curriculum, which leads to the American High School Diploma, and is part of the Aldar family of schools.

Key responsibilities

• Help students grow personally, socially and academically, and monitor each student's progress
• Contact parents about student behaviour and work with students on social, behavioural and personal problems
• Prevent bullying and support victims of bullying
• Teach job-search skills such as resume writing and interview techniques, and coordinate with counsellors on career options
• Provide preventive and developmental counselling, including conflict resolution classes and group sessions
• Identify cases of domestic abuse and other family problems affecting students, and refer at-risk students to outside interventions with parental consent
• Maintain confidentiality regarding student well-being

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Psychology, Social Work or Counseling
• At least two years of postgraduate experience
• Recent and consistent involvement in extra-curricular activities
• Experience with students for whom English is an additional language
• Clean enhanced DBS or police check
